Sara Sakanaka

An apparel design graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology who spent over a decade as a designer for established fashion houses in the United States, Japan and China. Sara Sakanaka established Considered Objects in early 2021, a studio that creates one-of-a-kind, handcrafted garments using repurposed heritage and vintage kimonos and locally sourced reclaimed textiles. Sara’s creative practice is based on an exploration through research, experimentation, and hand-sewn techniques that make the project very personal, meaningful, and heartfelt.

Considered Objects proposal for a design solution for the times, free of previous conventions, respecting contributions of beauty, past and future, memory, and modernity. All creations are sustainable, not bound by gender, age, size, shape, and by concept, functional and comfortable.  Bringing attention to the inherent value in an object and encouraging one to take care of and treasure it, and pass it down from generation to generation.
This is the goal of making things in the hands of Considered Objects.
