Matt Milligan

A New York-based artist making handmade prints using layers of inkjet, cyanotype, and other photographic techniques. His recent work includes photographs, videos, and interviews made during the pandemic, from 2020-2023, with local people and businesses in his neighborhood. He uses the cyanotype process as a way to show the presence of the pandemic in his photos. He also uses it to incorporate organic material from his subject matter into his prints. As in the series with Ali (Casa Magazines) and Luis (an MTA bus driver), Matt tones these cyanotype prints with Ali’s tea, Vital Tea, as a way to bring their experiences into the artwork.
